The bet settles after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. It is the most traded market on every Nigerian sportsbook, which also means it usually has the lowest margin and the best prices on big leagues.
What is double chance?
Double chance covers two of the three outcomes in one bet:

The price is lower than a straight win because you are covering more outcomes. Double chance suits matches where you are confident a team will not lose but less sure it will win, such as a strong away side at a stubborn home team.
Home win, 1X or draw no bet?
Here is how we decide which version of a "home win prediction" to post:
- Straight home win (1) when the gap in quality is clear and the price still offers value. A favourite at 1.30 rarely does.
- 1X when the home side is better but draws are common in that league or the opponent defends deep.
- Draw no bet (stake returned on a draw) when we want protection without giving up as much price as 1X. Not every site lists it on every match.
- 12 when both teams attack and draws are unlikely, typical of open, high-scoring fixtures.
"Sure home win prediction" is a popular search, but there is no such thing. Favourites drop points every weekend. What we can do is show why a pick makes sense and at what price it stops making sense.
What goes into our 1X2 and double chance picks
Our picks are opinions from our editors, drawn from public results and match data. Each one is reasoned through the same points:
- Form and chance quality. Recent results and the chances each side creates and allows, adjusted for home advantage, give a rough estimate for 1, X and 2.
- Head-to-head (H2H) in context. H2H records get a small weight. A result from three seasons and two managers ago says little about this weekend.
- Team news and motivation. Injuries, suspensions, fixture congestion and what each side needs from the game.
- Odds comparison. We convert bookmaker prices into implied chances and only post picks where our estimate looks higher. That is the heart of finding 1X2 value bets.
We also keep an eye on dropping odds on 1X2 markets. A big price drop often means team news or heavy money has arrived. It is a signal to re-check, not a reason to follow blindly.
How to read 1X2 odds
Take a match priced Home 2.10, Draw 3.30, Away 3.60. Implied chances are about 47.6%, 30.3% and 27.8%, which add up to about 105.7%. The extra 5.7% is the bookmaker's margin. A site with a lower total on the same match is giving you better prices across the board.
Double chance prices come from the same maths. If you see 1X on that match at 1.30 (about 76.9%), compare it with the 1 and X implied chances combined (about 77.9% here). Small differences like this add up over hundreds of bets, so check before you book. Our odds calculator handles the conversions.
Staking double chance and 1X2 tips
- Low odds feel safe but are not. A 1.25 double chance still loses one time in five if the price is fair. Stake the same small unit you use elsewhere.
