The Sugar Rush slot by Pragmatic Play looks like another candy game, but it plays differently from Sweet Bonanza. Instead of paying anywhere, it uses clusters on a large 7 by 7 grid, and its key feature is a set of multiplier spots that grow every time a win lands on them. Once you understand the spots, the whole game makes sense.
Cluster pays on a 7x7 grid
A win is a cluster of 5 or more identical symbols touching horizontally or vertically. Bigger clusters pay more. After a win, the symbols in the cluster explode, the ones above fall down and new candies drop in. Tumbles continue until no new cluster forms.
Multiplier spots: the heart of Sugar Rush
- When a winning symbol explodes, the position it sat on is marked.
- If another winning symbol explodes on a marked position during the same tumble sequence, that spot becomes a multiplier, starting at 2x.
- Every further win on that spot doubles it: 2x, 4x, 8x and so on, up to a maximum of 128x according to the provider.
- If a cluster covers several multiplier spots, their values are added together and applied to that cluster's win.
In the base game, the marks and multipliers reset when the tumble sequence ends. That is why big base-game wins are rare: the spots rarely get time to grow.
Sugar Rush free spins
Three or more scatters trigger free spins, with more scatters giving more spins. The crucial difference: in free spins, marked spots and multipliers stay for the whole round. A free spins round that builds several high multiplier spots early can pay very well. One that does not can finish with very little.
High volatility and the RTP your casino runs
According to Pragmatic Play, the standard RTP is around 96.5% and volatility is high. Casinos may run lower settings, so look at the game's info screen. High volatility means patience and a budget that can handle long dry spells.
Sugar Rush bonus buy
Where allowed, you can buy free spins for a fixed multiple of your stake. Because the spots build over the round, bought bonuses can vary hugely. A bonus buy is the fastest way to win big in this slot and also the fastest way to lose a large amount. Use it only if you fully accept that.
Watch the multiplier spots grow in demo
The demo is worth more here than for most slots, because the multiplier spot system is easier to understand by watching. Play free until you can follow how marks turn into multipliers. No deposit needed.
